ABSTRACT This research involves the evaluation of the quality of the limestone in the non-metallic mining concession Three Pyramids, for industrial purposes to produce calcium oxide. In Cajamarca characterization of limestone for industrial use it is necessary, it is considered important to have basic information and study to encourage and promote their development. The proper chemistry of limestone, as well as being the basis for the design of mining works, physical evaluation contributes to optimizing the exploitation method, and avoids a vain investment. The main objective of this thesis is to evaluate the quality of the limestone in the concession Three Pyramids to produce calcium oxide, and then determine the quality of the limestone according to their physical characteristics, determining the quality of the limestone according to their characteristics chemical, perform the calculation of reserves and make the mine plan. With the development of this thesis it was reached the following conclusions: • According to the mapped geology in the nonmetallic mining concession Three Pyramids, only the geological formation Cajamarca and Yumagual composed of limestone are evident. limestone formation Cajamarca are optimal for the generation of calcium oxide. • According to the physical characteristics of the samples analyzed, we conclude that the quality is good to produce calcium oxide are classified as Mudstone, Packstone and wackestones. • According to chemical analyzes laboratory concluded that the quality of these limestones is good for the development of calcium oxide, representing a minimum value of 94.43% of total carbonates and a maximum value of 97.11%. • Estimated reserves are 687 589 metric tonnes, with a monthly output of 3600 metric tons, the reserves would last 15.91 years of life. • The mine plan will be made by the method banks operating in the open, using a combination of explosives including dynamite, ANFO, slow fuse, pentcord, detonators and detonating cord.
