ABSTRACT Nowadays, traditional architecture (architecture made of land) is almost gone, even though housing and many other architectural styles are cultural expressions that talk about our past and future. There are many techniques, either antiques or contemporary constructions techniques with proved results in low cost and low impact in the environment. In Peru, constructions on land had decreased by social-cultural and social-economic issues, that is why they have become “chicha” constructions without construction techniques. Common technical problems in construction on land, such as vulnerability and flaws in its structure during earthquakes have been an impediment to innovation. This is why the material had been marginalized throughout history and also because housing made of land are always the most affected, showing deficiency in their construction technique and low resistance to traction. Analyzing the problem, we can conclude that contemporary techniques (quincha metallica) are one of the best alternatives for construction made of land. Either for simple houses or major architectural constructions. Since this material is a good resistant to earthquakes and great flexibility in molding forms, in addition to its large thermal conditions.
