ABSTRACT This present work entitled “Improvement of the Process to increase productivity in the area of Activated Carbon Desorption“ was born from the need to optimize the initial production process based on automation, as well as to improve processes through a state diagnosis the organization. The improvement of this area aims to optimize the production process and for this purpose was evaluated under two perspectives: The first perspective is the current working conditions, how and in what quantity the resources intervene and under what conditions of industrial safety and hygiene are the columns fed to start the process of desorption of activated carbon. The distribution of labor and the poor working conditions to which they are exposed, the need to make use of personnel from other areas to support tasks that are not in their work section. The lack of an adequate maintenance plan to maintain the equipment in optimal conditions and to avoid unforeseen failures that can generate stops of contemplated plant, or generates time losses in transfers and personnel constantly exposed to the danger. The second perspective will be the working conditions after the implementation of the improvement in the area of activated carbon desorption. In the case of activated carbon, an adequate transfer of the same will be implemented under appropriate conditions of ergonomics, safety and industrial hygiene, avoiding the losses and contamination of the collaborators. As for the workforce, an automated system will be implemented that would eliminate the over-effort by the manual loading of coal by the workers, consequently generating an adequate work environment based on safety, health and industrial hygiene, in addition It will be possible to reduce unnecessary labor, however it is important to emphasize the sustainable improvement that will be generated in health issues, basically oriented to the ergonomics of the employee. In the preventive maintenance of the machines in the area of activated carbon desorption, a manual of preventive maintenance will be proposed to maintain the operation of the equipment, in addition to written procedures of safe work and standards to optimize the processes and to train the personnel of the company in the care of themselves. By means of the present work of improvements of the process of desorption it will be possible to increase the productivity of the workforce of the company, will propose Manuals, procedures, PETS of the area and standards for the activities with greater risk, in this way it will be possible to standardize the procedures Referring to the desorption area.
