The investigation offers the possibility of minimizing lead in a soil; using Phragmites australis, which is adaptable to media and has the absorption capacity of heavy metals; In addition, it is reusable in crafts, construction, etc. For this, the main concepts of environmental engineering, soil control and phytoremediation were used. The study was carried out at the Paredones mine, located in the Cajamarca region. Having as main objective, to determine if the phytoremediation and amendment are effective in the lead concentration. To determine this objective, the field within the study area was recognized, determining the number of treatments and amendment dosages to improve the soil with various fertilizers, sowing Phragmites australis, to finally analyze the phytoremediation in the laboratory using the type phytoextraction. As results, we were able to minimize the lead concentration to 2010.60 mg / kg using Phragmites australis and amendment. Finally, the bioconcentration factor turned out to be less than 1, obtaining an exclusive plant; while the translocation factor is greater than 1, for which it was determined that the plant is a heavy metal accumulator.
