The objective of this study was to determine the relationship between emotional intelligence and burnout syndrome in customer service employees of a private organization in Lima. In order to fulfill this objective, a quantitative research methodology was considered, with a non-experimental design, correlational type and cross-section, which allows the timely analysis of the variables. In this sense, the following instruments were also applied: Salovey and Mayer's Emotional Intelligence Scale (TMMS - 24) (1995) and the Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI) (1986) in a sample of 95 collaborators of both sexes who provide customer service in a private organization in Lima. In this sense, the results determined that there is no evidence of a relationship between the research variables, however, there is a relationship between the emotional intelligence variable and the depersonalization dimension, evidencing an inverse relationship of moderate intensity. It is concluded that for the study sample, emotional intelligence is not related to burnout syndrome.
