Parenting is a responsibility that is often perceived by parents as a situation that exceeds their resources. On the other hand, it becomes more complex when one of the children has autism spectrum disorder, due to the child's needs and the parents' resources, which can cause parental stress. Therefore, the objective was to determine the relationship between parental stress and perceived social support in parents of children with autism spectrum disorder in Lima, Peru. Fifty parents of children with autism spectrum disorder participated in this study, in which 74% of the parents surveyed presented high parental stress, 96% of the parents had a high level in the dysfunctional parent-child interaction dimension, and an average level of perceived social support in the parents was evidenced, highlighting that 44% perceive such social support from friends. It is concluded that there is an inverse relationship between the variables parental stress and perceived social support in parents of children with autism spectrum disorder in Lima, Peru.
