This thesis is in charge of delving into a forgotten subject in the academic world. Although there are several studies on natural ventilation, cross ventilation and many similar terms that address wind management in buildings, the material found on this branch of bioclimatic architecture applied to large buildings such as an airport, is little or nil. Airports are always viewed from a wasteful and international perspective. They are cataloged even as places in which there is not nationality and as meeting points and farewells that fill their limits with emotional charge. Those often hyperbolic and imposing casings are far from inspiring savings and economy, much less care for the environment. That’s how we reached to the point, to the nucleus the reason for this investigation. Ventilation in airports is not at all natural, its large size and intricate function makes cross ventilation the least problem to solve. In this thesis, a solution to this forgotten issue is proposed from the architecture, aiming to identify the form and dimension in which the wind determines the design of the function and form of the airport to be raised, making it the basis and axis in the design process. To achieve this, several architectural antecedents that work applying natural ventilation in medium-sized buildings will be presented and alternatives of formal relationships that ensure adequate ventilation in the most critical areas of an airport are proposed. Finally, when the functionality of the proposal in the design has been demonstrated and achieved, the results of using wind and cross ventilation as the axis of the design will be presented, showing the formal relationships obtained and analyzing the way in which the insertion of the variable has conditioned the design.
