The present investigation seeks to show the reduction of costs by implementing the construction of a 540m3 pond, in the activity of irrigating roads to the leachate area, dynamic pad 7 and 8 currently active and in operation in the SUMMA GOLD CORPORATION mine and carry out a comparison with the current costs of irrigating roads. The real costs obtained were taken in the field through direct observation and the daily summaries of water transfer control carried out by the mining unit. In addition, the identification of the adverse factors typical of a mining project that affect the performance of the machinery was carried out. The result of the study concluded that the cost of irrigation roads in their current state amounted to a total monthly amount of $20,257.85, while the cost of implementing the water supply pool reached a total monthly amount of $13,305.27, generating thus a significant saving of $6,952.58 per month and $83,430.98 as an annual projection. Likewise, the cost of construction of said pool covered a total amount of $10,627.27; which will be covered with the savings generated in a maximum period of 1.5 months, having a profit for the first year of use of $72,803.71.
