The increasing demand in the search of practical and successful solutions in the companies now generates the necessity to count on systems that allow to the effective management of the information resources and documentation. The project “Digital Document Management System, aims to reduce the time and cost in the process of document distribution at San Pedro University, implementing a digital document management system. This will allow institutional users access to information to transmit and manage data and information in an organized and timely manner. Methodologically and according to the nature and characteristics of the study problem was identified as a type of descriptive and explanatory research; And the design of the project is of the pre-experimental type, based on a diagnosis of the current situation through a survey of users of the important areas that manage documents, with the purpose of knowing the current state, form of storage, state Conservation and types of formats. Also, the field research that was carried out as well as the results of the same is presented. It shows the design and development of the computer solution for document management of the institution. Among the results, we can state with respect to users 98.7% believe that the system is good for work, 8.3% consider regular basis. With regard to the assessment that gives the user the performance indicators, we have that 75% consider it as excellent 16.7% as very good, 8% as fair and none considered to have malfunction. In the case of computer, we have 83.3% of them consider that this system is good and 16.7% consider it as a regular. For experts have content that they all consider that the system is good. We can be concluded that the Document Information Management System is effective for reducing the cost and time in the preparation, receipt and distribution of documents.
