ABSTRACT This research aimed to determine the relationship between State - Trait anxiety and social skills in students of secondary level of the police school Mariano Santos Mateos. The sample consisted of 144 students of 2nd, 3rd and 4th year of secondary education. For this research two instruments were applied to the students, State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI) and Gismero’s Social Skills Scale. When analyzing the results it’s seen that the state anxiety and social skills correlate highly significant at p <0.05 in a negative way, where less anxiety state improves the social skills. On the other hand a negative relationship it’s seen between trait anxiety and social skills to p <0.05, the same phenomenon is observed.
