This thesis aimed to investigate the perception of LGTBIQ+ individuals regarding the authenticity of corporate communication by Real Plaza shopping malls in Lima in 2023. Utilizing an empirical non-experimental descriptive research approach with a quantitative methodology, the study administered a questionnaire to 367 LGTBIQ+ individuals familiar with or having visited Real Plaza. Among the key findings, 59.6% of respondents perceived the support of Real Plaza shopping malls for LGTBIQ+ people as sporadic and influenced by temporary trends. Additionally, 58.6% questioned the protection and promotion of equal rights in advertising by Real Plaza. Similarly, 59.7% felt that advertising did not resonate with subgroups within the LGTBIQ+ community that face the most discrimination. Finally, 62.4% believed that LGTBIQ+ people were not adequately included in its content and campaigns. In conclusion, although Real Plaza makes advertising efforts aimed at LGTBIQ+ people, there is a considerable gap between its initiatives and the real expectations and perceptions of this group of people, pointing to the need for a deeper and more authentic commitment that involves comprehensive and permanent initiatives from its internal policies.
