Currently, research on water resources is of utmost importance, as it enables the planning and fulfillment of the needs of populations or communities through projects. These projects help address the demands that arise from these communities. The objective of this research is to establish a water balance in the lower part of the Huaura River basin using the WEAP software. This tool assists in generating and quantifying water demand and availability for utilization during dry periods. To model with WEAP, acquiring information such as geomorphological parameters, hydrological units, climatological data like precipitation, temperature, and streamflow, as well as water demand in the basin, was necessary. This information was fed into the hydrological model to simulate and obtain hydrological results. Subsequently, calibration and validation of historical and simulated streamflows were conducted. The validation was performed using the NASH statistical model, confirming the validity of the streamflows generated by the model for water resources planning. The water balance results indicated unmet demand and insufficient coverage at demand sites during the month of August in all evaluated years. As a final step, the study evaluated the reliability of the results by applying an index of reliability in terms of time and volume. The findings of this research will serve as a valuable preliminary study and lay the foundation for improved water resource management in the lower part of the Huaura River basin.
