Capital goods (BKC) imports have been a key pillar in Peru's economic development over the past decades. Mainly sourced from China, the United States, Brazil, and Mexico, these imports have driven the modernization of various sectors, particularly the mining sector. In this sector, the adoption of advanced technology has increased production, improved safety, and reduced environmental impact. For this research, the use of a gravity model with panel data from 2000 to 2023 is proposed, suggesting that factors such as GDP and trade agreements have a direct relationship with BKC imports. Additionally, the distance between countries shows an inverse relationship. This analysis highlights the strategic importance of Peru's trade relations with 30 key countries. These capital goods have not only strengthened traditional sectors but also driven economic diversification and job creation in new sectors. To maximize these benefits, it is crucial to continue policies that facilitate BKC imports, diversify suppliers, and strengthen national technological capacity. Thus, Peru will be able to continue capitalizing on BKC as a driver of economic and social development.
