Microenterprises are a business sector that has difficulties with accessibility to the financial system. One of the main causes is their credit delinquency. Delinquency is due to various risks that characterize microenterprises. The present research focused on how the variation of economic growth represented by GDP growth influences microenterprises' credit delinquency for the Peruvian financial system from January 2005 to December 2019. After having reviewed previous similar research for other countries, the use of the following control variables is considered: the unemployment rate, inflation, nominal exchange rate and the reference interest rate. Previous results show that the relationship between economic growth and microenterprise delinquency is inverse. In other words, when the country experiences economic growth, it will have the lagged effect of reducing delinquency in the following months. It is also concluded that control variables can influence both positively and negatively the delinquency cycle. A VAR econometric model was used to estimate the results with monthly data from the Peruvian financial system from January 2005 to December 2019.
