The project stems from the analysis and study of the urban-religious patterns of Lima’s historic centre (Centro Histórico de Lima) which aims to evoke the collective memory of the space (processions, rituals) by using the fixed resources (heights, patterns, axis, emptiness). These elements are adapted, abstracted and interpreted again with new conceptual, functional and formal criteria designs. The project seeks to generate a narrative filled with dramatism with the goal of stimulating the interpretation and diffusion of the heritage. The arquitectural program arises from the intention of evoking and creating a religious and procesional atmosphere characteristic of the Centro Histórico de Lima (CHL) for which a spatial sequence that recreates such atmosphere is articulated. In response to the loss of identity and memory of the material and inmaterial religious heritage of the CHL, whether through local users and/or visitors, the project aims to create a space to commemorate and appreciate the cultural-religious richness of the CHL’s. In addition, it seeks to create connections (visual and spatial) between the religious heritage (material and inmaterial) and the user through its architecture as a medium: creation of intermediary spaces like viewpoints inside the building and the formation of a starting point or reference for the touristic routes that the area offers visitors
