This work explains the problem of low productivity in a textile company dedicated to the manufacture of jeans. The main objective is to improve productivity and product quality through the implementation of the 5S methodology and a preventive maintenance (TPM) program. Which began by carrying out an exhaustive analysis of the current situation of the plant, identifying critical areas where inefficiencies were most pronounced. Data on production times, defect rates and machine downtime were recognized. To then carry out a 5S audit in which deficiencies in the production process are identified. Subsequently, the 5S methodology was implemented, through its 5 stages, Seiri (Classification), Seiton (Order), Seiso (Clean), Seiketsu (Standardize) and Shitsuke (Discipline) and in parallel, preventive maintenance was applied where maintenance calendars were designed and training that helped us with the availability of machinery, in addition, a registration and monitoring system for maintenance activities was implemented. The results were a longer machine availability time, an improvement in the quality of the final product, a greater capacity in the production process and due to these improvements, an increase in general productivity in the production plant was obtained. In conclusion, the integration of the 5S methodology and a preventive maintenance program in the textile company proved to be an effective strategy to improve productivity.
