In this improvement project of a metalworking company manufacturing metal platforms for modular units, a critical issue of high non-conforming product percentage, reaching 38.6% in the welding process, was addressed. To resolve this issue, the PDCA methodology and statistical control were applied, allowing identification of root causes of defects, implementation of effective corrective actions, and standardization of work procedures. As a result, the percentage of non-conforming products was significantly reduced to 4.6%. To ensure sustainability of achieved improvements and prevent recurrence of issues, statistical control charts were introduced to continuously monitor the process, detecting variations before they became significant problems. The combination of PDCA problem-solving cycle and statistical control not only enhanced product quality but also increased welding process efficiency, reduced costs associated with rework and waste, and improved the company's ability to remain competitive in the market.
