This paper proposes the application of TPM engineering tools and work standardization as an alternative to reduce interruptions due to defects in the medium voltage network in an electric power distribution company. The consumption of electrical energy at national and world level is indispensable and is growing in demand due to the increase in population and its diversification of use. Due to this, the impact of service interruptions is crucial for the economy, quality of life, safety and other reasons. For the same reason, the regulatory bodies of the energy sector have established limits in these cases and the organization under study is no stranger. By assessing the problems internally and the causes that affect them, the objectives of reducing interruptions caused by failures and breakdowns in the network were defined, as well as the correct approach to work methods. The application of TMP engineering tools and work standardization was proposed to meet these objectives. To evaluate the proposal functionally, a pilot implementation was developed in the area with the highest incidence recorded, and to evaluate it economically, a financial flow was developed. In both cases the results were favorable with a 52% reduction in the number of interruptions and an internal rate of return of 45%. Thus demonstrating the expected achievement of the objectives.
