This work was developed in a solar panel distribution company, to improve its logistics process in the warehouse area, by implementing the Systematic Layout Planning (SLP) and Lean Logistics methodologies. Industrial engineering tools were also used to help identify the main problem associated with the low level of service and its root causes, mainly related to late delivered orders and/or incomplete delivered orders. The application of the SLP methodology involved a redistribution of warehouse spaces in order to reduce unnecessary transfer times. This improvement allowed reducing times by 39.80%. On the other hand, the 5S methodology was implemented to reduce errors in the Picking and Packing process through the optimization of order and cleanliness in the work area and the standardization of procedures. Finally, the Poka Yoke tool was applied to reduce errors due to cross-referencing of information in shipments. These improvements were quantified based on indicators and their economic viability was proven with a positive VNA of $23,118.81 and an IRR of 43.79%. Finally, we was obtained an increase in the Level of Service (OTIF) of 13.12 percentage points.
