Proyecto de reubicación de las instalaciones logísticas de la empresa UPS empleando metodologías de localización e información financiera

Abstract

El presente trabajo de investigación tiene como finalidad mostrar el impacto económico y financiero de la iniciativa de ahorro de costos operativos en la unidad de negocio de Operaciones Logísticas de la empresa UPS SCS (PERU) S.R.L. para lo cual se emplearon herramientas de ingeniería como son las metodologías de localización y el uso de información financiera. Específicamente, el proyecto se orienta a la disminución de un 61% en la renta mensual de alquiler de una de las instalaciones que UPS tiene en el Perú, esto significa una reducción de USD 30,000 mensuales. Como valores agregados al objetivo principal es que se logra mejorar la productividad del personal operativo, maximización del tiempo disponible en almacén dada la mejor infraestructura, óptimo diseño de estaciones de trabajo y eficiente flujo de procesos, puntos que fueron materia para posteriores proyectos realizados en el desarrollo de operaciones de la empresa UPS.

The purpose of this research work is to show the economic and financial impact of the initiative to save operating costs in the Logistics Operations business unit of the company UPS SCS (PERU) S.R.L. for which engineering tools were used such as location methodologies and the use of financial information. Specifically, the project is aimed at a 61% decrease in the monthly rental of one of the facilities that UPS has in Peru, this means a reduction of USD 30,000 per month. As added values to the main objective is that it is possible to improve the productivity of the operating staff, maximizing the time available in the warehouse given the best infrastructure, optimal design of workstations and efficient process flow, points that were the subject of subsequent projects carried out in the development of operations of the UPS company.
