Construction is an activity with high economic and technological impact with a high need for continuous improvement; In this context, materials play an important role in the quality of civil works. With the research focused on the improvement of concrete as an element of greatest importance in construction, the problematic relapse into ignorance of the influence of polyethylene terephthalate on the compressive strength of concrete 280 Kg/cm2 was identified. To provide a solution to the problem, various proportions of said plastic were tested as an addition to the fresh concrete, then measuring its compressive strength after seven, 14 and 28 days of curing. The results show that small proportions of said plastic, specifically 1.0% by weight with respect to the design cement, achieved a significant improvement of 45.26% when compared to the standard concrete after 28 days. The result obtained allowed us to validate and accept the working hypothesis that, as a tentative response, had foreseen polyethylene terephthalate as an influential and significant addition. The result contributes to the clarification of the disparate results obtained by different researchers on the subject, providing a result faithfully adjusted to the data found
