Compare the ALBI-PLT and CHILD-PUGH scale for diagnosis of gastroesophageal varicose veins in cirrhotic patients at the Regional Teaching Hospital of Trujillo, during 2021 to 2024. METHODS: A retrospective analytical cross-sectional study of diagnostic tests was carried out. The database collected from 150 medical records of patients with liver cirrhosis treated at the Gastroenterology Service of the Regional Teaching Hospital of Trujillo during 2021 to 2024 was used. Specificity, sensitivity, PPV and NPV of Child- Pugh and Albi were determined. -PLT, in addition, ROC curve was constructed to determine AUC. RESULTS: The sensitivity and specificity of the Child-Pugh score was 74.8%%) and 51.9% respectively. The positive predictive value and negative predictive value were 87.62% and 31.11% respectively. The sensitivity and specificity of the ALBI-PLT score was 81.3% and 81.48% respectively. The positive predictive value and negative predictive value were 95.24% and 48.89% respectively. The ROC curve of both scales showed statistical significance (p<0.05), and the AUC for Child Pugh and ALBI-PLT was 0.810 and 0.637 respectively. CONCLUSIONS: The ALBI-PLT scale has greater validity compared to the Child- Pugh scale for the diagnosis of gastroesophageal varices in cirrhotic patients.
