--- Introduction: Burnout Syndrome is a chronic adaptative disorder associated with the inadequate confrontation of the psychological demands that affect the quality of life of the person that has it and causes a negative effect in the quality of the attention offered by the medical residents. Objective: To determine the prevalence of Burnout syndrome among medical residents of Gynecology and Obstetrics of the Arzobispo Loayza National Hospital during 2015. Results: 23 residents of gynecology and obstetrics were evaluated, the average age was 31.91 years; 13 were male; 16, single. 2 cases of burnout syndrome was found. The most affected dimensions were emotional exhaustion and depersonalization. No significant differences between burnout syndrome and sociodemographic characteristics were found. Conclusions: Burnout syndrome has a low prevalence (8.70%) in medical residents of Gynecology and Obstetrics of the Arzobispo Loayza National Hospital. Could not find relationship between the presence of the syndrome and sex, age or year of residence. Keywords: Stress, Burnout, physician residents.
