The present study sought to evaluate the coagulant effect of spider silk Scytodes longipes applied in human blood sample. METHODS: Experimental study of parallel controls. The blood sample was obtained from a healthy young patient. The silk was produced by a group of spiders hunted and bred in semi-captivity for 1 year. The fabric is partitioned into groups: Weight 1 (3-4 mg); Weight 2 (5-6 mg) and Weight 3 (7-8 mg), wich were disinfected and sterilized. Coagulant effect was evaluated by measuring the Coagulation Time and Prothrombin Time. RESULTS: The statistical analysis used was the Bonferroni test to determine between study groups had significant difference. The spider silk Scytodes longipes has coagulating effect showing a significant reduction in Coagulation Time and Prothrombin Time (P <0.05). As for the comparison between groups coagulating effect weight, there is a difference that was not found statistically significant. However in the Prothrombin Time, it was found that the higher the weight, the coagulant effect is significantly improved (P <0.05).
