--- The Puyango-Tumbes River Basin comes from polluting sources located mainly in the upper and middle of it, which incorporate a considerable amount of heavy water and more to the sediment metals. The main activities that generate pollutants and incorporate the river Puyango - Tumbes are mining in the towns of Portovelo and Zaruma in the province of El Oro Ecuador, as well as the generation and disposal of solid waste and sewage of the populations in the river. This situation has already led to some problems in the lower basin of the Peruvian industry, polluting rice soils of the left bank of the Tumbes River and mangroves of Tumbes; damaging sources of direct feeding of the population and endangering human health. Under the mentioned this project aims Sort environmental indicators and contribute to the quality management of surface water in the basin of Puyango-Tumbes River through the Pressure - State- Response model (P-ER), study was performed on the Peruvian side , management programs of surface waters of the basin Puyango-Tumbes influence the classification of environmental indicators in the Puyango-Tumbes river and points sewage discharges were evaluated , identifying possible causes of contamination. The results show that the Tumbes River Basin has an Environmental Quality Index (EQI) of 22.97 and Zarumilla river basin has a EQI of 61.51.
