Resumen: El Mercado de Capitales en el Perú, tiene su origen en 1860 con la creación de la Bolsa Mercantil de Lima, evolucionando desde una Cámara de Comercio donde se llevaba a cabo el intercambio de productos y se centralizaba el ingreso y salida de mercancías en los barcos del puerto del Callao; hasta transformarse en una Moderna Bolsa de Valores, con una legislación acorde (Decreto Legislativo 775) a partir de 1991 con lo cual se ha convertido en altamente competitiva a nivel Latinoamericano y Mundial. Se ha modernizado el sistema financiero, bancario, los inversionistas Institucionales (AFPs, Fondos Mutuos, etc.), facilidades de acceso a los flujos de capital internacional, la presencia de la Banca de Inversión, entre otros; ha facilitado para contar con un Mercado de Capitales en constante crecimiento y fortalecimiento de su institucionalidad y desempeño. El comportamiento del Mercado Nacional de Capitales tiene una relación directa con el rendimiento de la actividad económica; en el período 1985-90 existe un mercado nacional de capitales débil, poco dinámico, en concordancia con el comportamiento de la economía peruana, en cambio en el período 1991-2002 existe un mercado nacional de capitales, dinámico, en crecimiento, competitivo, en concordancia con un mejor comportamiento de la economía nacional.
The Market of Capitals in the Peru, has its origin in 1860 with the creation of the Mercantile Bag of Lima, evolving from a Chamber of Commerce where it was carried out the exchange of products and it was centralized the entrance and exit of goods in the ships of the port of the Callao; until becoming a Modern Stock exchange, with an in agreement legislation (I Decree Legislative 775) starting from 1991 with that which has become in highly competitive at Latin American and World level. The financial, bank system has been modernized, the Institutional investors (AFPs, Mutual Fund, etc.), access facilities to the flows of international capital, the presence of the Banking of Investment, among others; it has facilitated to have a Market of Capitals in constant growth and invigoration of their institucionalidad and acting performance. The behavior of the National Market of Capitals has a direct relationship with the yield of the economic activity; in the period 1985-90 a weak, not very dynamic national market of Capitals exists, in agreement the performance of the Peruvian economy, on the other hand in the period 1991-2002 a National Market of Capitals, dynamic, exists in growth, competitive, in agreement with a better performance of the national economy.
