--- This study compared the erosive effect on human enamel produced by three types of industrialized beverages highly consumed in Lima city, evaluating the microhardness variation in 20 human enamel samples. This samples were separated in four groups: a carbonated beverage group, a yoghurt group, a fruit juice group, and a control group. A initial microhardness measurement was made, then each group was submited for ten minutes daily, for five days to the action of the assignated beverages, (the control group was stored in a physiological isotonic solution). Five days after, a new microhardness measurement was made to evaluate the variation in each group. The results were analized using the T-Student, ANOVA and Tukey HSD statistical tests. This study concluded there was a significant decrease of microhardness on enamel samples submited to the beverages in study. Carbonated beverage produced more erosive effect, while yoghurt produced less erosive effect.
