--- E. chaffeensis is an obligately intracelullar bacteria in the family Anaplasmataceae and is the agent of the Human Monocytic Ehrlichiosis (HME), a disease with unspecific symptoms that is mainly transmitted through tick bites of the genera Amblyomma, Dermacentor and Rhipicephalus, and through blood transfusions from an infected to a sensitive person. In this study we detected a relative frecuency of E. chaffeensis in owners of domestic canines with Ehrlichiosis using Nested PCR. The sampling was done in 20 districts of the province of Lima and we found positive samples in the districts of Lurín, San Juan de Lurigancho, Comas, Chorrillos, Carabayllo and Ate, so we came to the conclusion that E. chaffeensis is distributed in at least six districts of the province of Lima. We tested 60 peripheral blood samples and we found ten positive samples, this gives us a 16.66% relative frecuency. 80% (8/10) of the positive samples belonged to females and 20% (2/10) belonged to males. Key words: Ehrlichia chaffeensis, Human Monocytic Ehrlichiosis, PCR, Nested PCR.
