The aim of the present study was done to determinate if the immunization with single dose commercial bacterin against Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae will influence in the antibody titles, weight gain, and pulmonary lesions in a swine intensive rearing system. Sixty piglets which proceeded from vaccinated sows were used. One group of 30 piglets (15 males and 15 females) were vaccinated at 42 days of age and the other group of 30 piglets remain unvaccinated, and they were used as a control group. Blood samples were obtained at 21, 42, 70, 84, 112 and 145 days of age. The antibodies titles were measured with an indirect assay of ELISA. The weight was measured at the 21 and 145 days of age. The pulmonary lesions were evaluated at slaughter. Around the 60%(18/30) of pigs from both groups revealed high antibody titles at 21 days of age, but these titles diminished at 70 days. The vaccinated group elevated their titles between the 84 and 145 days of age while the unvaccinated group elevated their antibodies titles at 112 days of age. There were no significant differences in the weight gain between both groups. The 79,31%(23/29) and 20,69%(6/29) from the control group and the vaccinated group, respectively, presented pulmonary lesions at the slaughter. The results demonstrate that the vaccination with single dose bacterin against Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae increase the antibody titles, although not in all population, diminish the percentage of pulmonary lesions, but no influence in the weight gain.
