-- The jaw cysts are a group of frequent injuries intraoseas own jaw and a major cause of destruction of these bones. In Peru there are no studies of the combination of these injuries. Objectives. The purpose of this study was to determine the presence of jaw cysts and surgical technique performed in patients treated at the National Archbishop Loayza Hospital during the period 2002-2007. Materials and methods. We reviewed medical records for the years 2002-2007 with a diagnosis of jaw cysts and the frequency was determined according to age group, gender, location, size of the lesion and type of surgery performed in each of these entities. Results. The radicular cysts was the most frequently (50%), followed by dentigerous cysts (20.8%) and Odontogenic keratocyst (10.4%). There was predominance in females and predilection for the upper jaw. The age distribution of patients with radicular cysts was in the third and fourth decade of life. The size of the lesion was found more frequently in 0.1-2 and 2.1-4cm. The majority of these injuries were treated by cystectomy (95.8%).
