Elbow dysplasia is defined as the abnormal development of the articulation humerus cubital radio, during the period of growth and it includes four injuries: Osteochondrosis and/or disecante osteochondritis, Ununited Anconeal Process, fragmented medial coronoide process and articulate incongruity. The present study evaluates by means of the radiographic diagnostic the frequency of presentation the dysplasia of elbow in dogs of the breed Mastin Napolitano over 6 months of age; according to the international protocol of the elbow proposed by The International Group of works in elbow (IEWG), accepted by the Orthopedic Animal Foundation and International Cinologica Federation. We evaluated 60 animals selected by chance and they distributed in 2 groups according to sex (30 by group), age (distributed in 3 groups). The frequency was of 18.33%; the first data registered over the disease in our country and the breed Mastin Napolitano. It demonstrated that statistical difference between the frequency of presentation by sexes nor by age does not exist significant, that the disease appears mainly of bilateral way (72.72%),that direct relation between the clinical signs and the presentation of the disease does not exist. Also it was possible to be appreciated that the degree 3 (severe) was the one of greater frequency between the positive cases and that the injury common in all the cases were the joint incongruity. It is recommended that the radiological study must be indispensable to establish a diagnostic detailed and definitive of elbow dysplasia, even in animals that not present clinical signs.
