In order to compare the apical microleakage of root canal fillings with cementbased zinc oxide sealers as ENDOBALSAM and GROSSDENT with the lateral condensation technique was carried out this experimental study, in vitro, prospective and transversal, were selected 40 recently extracted human teeth uniradiculares with straight canal, with fully formed apices, no broken apex without extreme curvature or calcification. After the teeth were instrumented with the technique in reverse and then randomized into 2 groups of 20 each to be filled with lateral condensation technique, one group GROSSDENT sealer and the other group with endobalsam sealer. After 1 week of curing, the teeth were painted with nail polish except 2mm before the apex, then were immersed in centrifuge tubes with India ink and were centrifuged for 5 min at 3000 rpm, then remained passive immersion for 72 hours at 37 ° C, after which the teeth were washed in running water and dried. Later they were decalcified and transparented for measurement of apical leakage of ink and evaluation of apical seal using an eye loupe and on millimeter Petri dishes. The measurement was made in millimeters. The average apical microleakage of the experimental groups showed no statistically significant differences for the Student t test, but the cement Grossdent showed a tendency to be more effective than Endobalsam because it presented a greater number of specimens without microfiltration and a percentage of 10% for a severe degree of microleakage.
