--- Preliminary studies in the 90s indicate that the virus of Aujeszky's disease is present in non-tech breeding pigs but absent in technologically advanced farms. These results suggest that pig breeding semi-enteched and / or can not be tech niches or sources Aujeszky virus, constituting a risk for technologically advanced farms. The aim of this study is to detect antibodies against the virus of Aujeszky's disease (AD) in swine breeds semi-enteched surrounding metropolitan Lima. 463 pig serum samples were collected between males and females over 130 days old, apparently normal, from semi-enteched breeding districts of Villa El Salvador (n = 100), Huachipa (n = 59), Pamplona (n = 48), Lurin (n = 41), contact (n = 41), San Juan (n = 34), Villa Maria del Triunfo (n = 31), San Juan de Miraflores (n = 27), the Molina (n = 19), Chosica (n = 16), San Bartolo (n = 14), Carabayllo (n = 14), Chorrillos (n = 12) and Chilca (n = 07), during the benefit in a slaughterhouse in Lima detect neutralizing antibodies against the virus of AD by testing viral neutralization. 100% of the samples were negative for antibodies against the virus of AD. We conclude that the absence of virus seropositivity in sampled AD pigs could be due to the trend towards improvement in the production and health management that breeders have assumed in semi-enteched breeding centers in this study.
