-- Jurassic sedimentary sequences that outcrops in southern Peru, are deposited above volcanic rocks of the Chocolate volcanic arc sinde hettangian? times, between Yura, (department of Arequipa) and Palquilla (department of Tacna). Theses deposits reveal a nascent carbonated platform related to distensive tectonic phases, indentified on basis of facies analysis. Sedimentary structures such as water scape and slumps suggest us a slope with deltaic progradation, while new fossiliferous records such as arietítids are proper elements of the Arietites bucklandi zone, which define biochrones from Sinemurian times. The sedimentary succession continue until Upper Toarcian, defined by the presence of Hildoceratids amonites associated to belemnites and equinoids within an intercalation of tidal sandstone and monomictic conglomerates composed of limestones; also, there is evidence of the first record of Lower Jurassic reptiles in southern Peru. After these events, there is reported a transgressive stage from toarcian-bajocian times, where carbonated platforms were forming with abundant reefal organisms, which evolutes until a forced marine regression, defined by its playa deposits.
