--- The objectives of this study were to determinated the frequency of external parasites in guinea pigs (Cavia porcellus) breeding family commercial in district Oxapampa - Pasco in the rainy and dry seasons , identifited ectoparasites present and to determinated the association between time of year and the presence of external parasites. Two hundred and thirty guinea pigs were evaluated at each time. Ectoparasites were collected using three techniques: skin scraping, transparent tape, and comb. The samples were transported to the Laboratory of Microbiology and Parasitology - Section of Parasitology, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of the Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos for evaluation. External parasites frequencies were 71 ±5.9% and 83 ±.9% for the rainy and dry seasons, respectively, identified five species of Acariformes and three species of Phthiraptera, being more frequent Chirodiscoides caviae and Gliricola porcelli. Significant association (p <0.05) was found between the variable season (wet and dry) and the presentation of external parasitism. -- Keywords: Cavia porcellus, ectoparasites, rain season, dry season, Oxapampa.
