--- Objective: To determine one's postural changes of aging and its relationship they have with walking speed in elderly patients PNP Geriatric Hospital San José, β015. Materials and Methods: It is a correlational study, transversal and prospective, larger service day Geriatric Clinic Hospital San José PNP adult patients whose ages fall from 60 years to more. It was assessed using a test sheet comprising the “get up and go“ and postural evaluation, the sample consisted of 80 elderly patients, fulfilling the inclusion criteria 70 of them. Results: In relation to the specific postural compensations of aging and walking speed in elderly patients Geriatric Hospital PNP San Jose, it was found that the group of patients who have a high level of postural compensations presented a level of speed the medium and low gear. Conclusions: These results show that the greater are the number of postural compensation in elderly patients, the lower the speed of the march in the elderly. We can conclude, that the aging own inversely influence postural compensations in gait speed. Keywords: walking speed, postural compensations aging.
