--- Introduction: Burnout syndrome develops in all work settings in response to a situation of chronic job stress. It is often present in people who are in direct contact with other people as staff health services (hospitals, health centers and others). According to medical literature there are nurses and medical personnel prone to this new form of work stress and / or Burnout syndrome. To determine the prevalence of Burnout syndrome in medical residents of the Arzobispo Loayza National Hospital in 2015 Lima, Perú. Design: A descriptive, observational cross-sectional study was conducted. Sample: 91 Medical Residents 2nd and 3rd year of all specialties Azobispo Loayza National Hospital in 2015. Techniques and procedures: Was used Maslach Burnout Inventory – HSS. Results: They presented Burnout syndrome introducing medicine residents in a prevalence of 24.2% (22/91). Conclusions: The prevalence of SB was 24.2%, occurring in 2nd year residents, single, aged between 25 and 34 years, with approximate revenue of s / 4000. The specialty with the highest prevalence of SB was general surgery, attending more than 30 patients and performed 2 guards a week. Hardest hit was the depersonalization dimension 58%.
