--- The present research work entitled “New extractive investment strategies and the situation of life quality of Peruvian Amazonian settlers in Padre Abad Province of the Ucayali Region” has been dealt with in the following manner: The problem that has guided our research has to do with the precariousness growing of living conditions of both indigenous and mestize population, who live in a part of the Amazonian area , noting that for decades , extractive companies operate in their territories in oil and monocultures, whose tendency is to increase their operations. Our objectives related to this problem were aimed, first to determine whether the new transnational companies strategies implemented through the FDI , lead to an improvement in life quality of Padre Abad population; second , to establish the degree of articulation of extractive activities with the provincial and rural economies; third, to determine in what extent the new extractive activities contribute to improve the employment conditions, education , income and political freedom; and fourth, to verify whether there are organizations and public or private institutions , able to overcome the present situation. As central hypothesis, we have considered show that the forms of capital reproduction, driven by the so-called Foreign Direct Investment and extractive and monoculture activities are not sources of life quality improvement of population; and as specific objectives oriented to show first that there is a process of consolidation of large properties oriented to extractive activities, which accelerate the disintegration of the rural economy; second, that investments in natural resources extraction are not the main source of job creation, education, services and political freedom, and finally institutions and private and public organizations in particular, lack of program guidelines and usefulness to generate sustainable development. Findings. What's new in the FDI, is given by: a) the degree of horizontal and vertical articulation that they have, through the establishment of new companies, or the association with each other, as it is the case of Aguaytia Energy; b) being that several of settlers, drivers of plots of oil palm, cocoa and other monocultures, supported by the State (DEVIDA) and international cooperation (UN, USAID), show that the contribution of these activities is not significant for their economic well-being; (c) it is not considered relevant the presence of foreign companies in the exploitation of their natural resources, as it is the case of Aguaytia Energy and others; d) the settlers also state that their economic situation has improved, compared to their situation of 5 years ago, however they also claim that their income and services have not increased; e) why whether Aguaytia Energy is considered as second in importance in the generation of energy in the world, has had no ability to articulate this area, nor with sufficient service of power, nor much less in demand of agricultural products, furthermore has failed to comply with its commitments; f) why being profitable monocultures, as the Regional Government says it, and with the growing presence of private foreign investment, residents who develop these crops, are against the eradication of coca cultivation; y g) why the regional government does not make greater investment in infrastructure and services, if they have international support and funds from the Canon and sobrecanon (taxes)? KEY WORDS: life quality, extractive activities, profit rate, land rent, foreign direct investment (FDI)
