--- The pharmacognostic study of alcoholic and aquous extracts has been done in fresh sample and ethereal extract from Averrhoa carambola L's dry sample, so as pharmacologic study that prove the anti-inflammatory activity of ethereal extract on albine male rats (Holtzmann species). In pharmacologic analysis of three kinds of extracts (aquous, alcoholic and ethereal extracts), has been identified by preliminary reactions and chromatography analysis later. It has made evident the presence of tannins, flavonoids, and B1 and C vitamins in aquous extract. Tannins, flavonoids in alcoholic extract, also steroidal compounds in ethereal extract, this extract has been cleaned and fractioned by column chromatography, obtaining a majority compound identify by Infrared Spectrometry in Chemistry Analysis Service Entity (USAQ)-UNMS. Because bigger quantity of steroids in chromatography analysis, we have continued with anti-inflammatory activity assay in ethereal extract on albine male rats, we have proved its anti-inflammatory activity by paw edema model induced by 1% carragenin administration in hind paw of the rat. The animal¢s age was three months, its weight from 180 to 220 g, the ethereal extract has been administrated by oral way (0.5 mL; 1mL; 2.5 mL and 5 mL, of one solution 11 mg/mL) and standard to doses differents (0.04 mg/Kg.; 0.1 mg/Kg.; y 0.2 mg/Kg.), 30 minutes before edema production. The anti-inflammatory effect has been measured by pletismometro each 30 minutes, by 5 hours. With this method has been determinated the anti-inflammatory effect of ethereal extract, to became getting efficiency from 14.89% to 64.27%. Finally the acute toxicity assay on albine male mice (Balb-C.53 species) to doses 3.81 g/Kg.; 7.86 g/Kg. and 24.22 g/Kg. has not evidenced toxicity signals, has not anyone killed during seven days of administration later.
