--- Introduction: The importance of linking the somatic features and flexibility allows for close association between body shape and physical performance. There is no a biotyping profile of Physical Therapy students at National or international level. Objective: To determine the relationship between flexibility and somatotype in Physical therapy students. Materials and Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted in the San Fernando School of Medicine december 2014, a total of 156 students from 1st to 5th year evaluated. Somatotype was measured with the Heath & Carter method and flexibility was measured with Sit and Reach test. Results: The endomorphic (p <0.001) and ectomorphic component (p= 0.006) showed a great negative correlation with flexibility. However the mesomorphic component showed no association with flexibility (p= 0.770). The predominant somatotype category in students was the endo-mesomorphic with 52.9% followed by the meso-Endomorphic with 19%; furthermore flexibility is strongly associated with female gender (p= 0.003); with age and with the increase in each year of study specifically from the 3rd, 4th and 5th: Body weight (BMI) does not influence flexibility (p=0.731). Conclusions: This study shows existing correlation between somatotype (endomorphic and ectomorphic) and flexibility for Physical therapy students. Keywords: Somatotype, flexibility, Sit and Reach test.
