--- The aim of this research was to find the frequency of non-carious cervical lesions in patients being attended at the Faculty of Dentistry of San Marcos National University. Our goal was to find a relationship between non-carious cervical lesions, age, gender and the most prevalent dental group. Also we wanted to elucidate the risk factors associated with abrasion, erosion, abfraction and combined lesions. The sample was selected from a population between 18 and 60 years. The patients took part at a clinical examination to determine the presence of non-carious cervical lesions, contact type when performing lateral disclusion, presence of interferences in protrusive and lateral movement, hypersensitivity generated by compressed air and salivary pH level. They were asked to answer a questionnaire evaluating data on acidic diet, brushing characteristics, parafunctional habits, general health status and medication treatment. The results indicated a high frequency of non-carious cervical lesions (82.5%) abrasion (60%) being the most common and bicuspid sector the most affected (76.5%). It was concluded that the older age group (46-60 years) had the highest averaged non-carious cervical lesions. No statistically significant differences regarding gender was found. Instead statistically significant association between abrasion and brushing time, erosion with the presence of gastroesophageal reflux and pH level as others was found.
