--- Teaching and learning based on competences, is required for the accreditation of higher education. To achieve the competence in pharmacotherapy follow (PF), it is necessary to use real clinical cases and scenarios. The objective of the research was to evaluate the improvement in the competences training of students of Pharmacy and Biochemistry for the PF after applying an Educational Intervention (EI). The design was quasi-experimental, longitudinal; a clinical approach in line with the specific competences of Pharmacy Curriculum 2014 FFyB of San Marcos University. Applying a methodology of PF, where is included Evidence Based Medicine(EBM), for finding information on the Internet. For teaching - learning strategy PBL was used. Multiple choice test and methodology PF were validated, obtaining a Cronbach alpha of 0.803 and 0.8298 respectively. Before and after of Educational Intervention, mean values of the scores of students and their significances was for: knowledge “procedures for selection of patients for PF“ (on a scale from 0 to 6) 1.57 ± 1, 29 vs 3.24 ± 1.47 and p = 0.000 for “use of information sources selected medicines internet“ (on a scale from 0 to 5): 3.85 ± 1.37 vs 4.37 ± 0, 92 p = 0.001. For skills in “identifies potential and actual DRPs correctly“ and “pharmaceutical interventions plans design health team“ (on a scale from 0 to 20) were: 6.7 ± 1.805 vs 15 ± 1.064 p = 0.000; 6.0 ± 2.89 vs 14.7 ± 1.05 p = 0.000, respectively. It is concluded that there is significant difference at 95%, in all criteria. One impact of this educational intervention was the inclusion of the EBM for courses of pharmacology and pharmacokinetics, of Department Pharmacology, Bromatology and Toxicology at which the subject belongs Pharmaceutical Care. Keywords: Pharmacotherapy follow, skills for Pharmacotherapy follow, EBM, PICO strategy.
