Musculoskeletal diseases are highly prevalent in the health professional it is important to know at what level is being affected population at risk to take steps that improve quality of life and quality of professional work. In Peru there are very few studies on occupational musculoskeletal diseases that affect the professional dental surgeon. This study aims to determine the prevalence of musculoskeletal pain in occupational risk population comprised of students enrolled dentists second specialization at the Faculty of Dentistry of the Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos. The study consisted of a selfadministered questionnaire that was completed by the students of the second field, determining the presence, intensity and location of musculoskeletal pain with occupational variables as age, sex, years of practice, hours of work per week and predominant clinical activity in the daily work. The results were: 87.2% of occupational musculoskeletal pain perception in the study population, with women about sex had relatively greater perception of pain compared with men with respect to age, years of practice weekly working hours and the perception of musculoskeletal pain increases when increasing the values of these variables, higher prevalence of neck pain perception of 71.8%, followed by lower back 64.1% and 53.8% dorsal area, the clinical activities prevailing in the profession with increased perception of pain were of Endodontics and Operative Rehabilitation oral-dental; intensity most prevalent musculoskeletal pain perceived by the population was moderate and finally occupational musculoskeletal pain did not influence the ability to perform the job or in seeking medical care. These results were consistent with other studies on musculoskeletal disorders in dentistry.
