--- The Porcine pleuropneumonia due to Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae is one of the respiratory diseases that causes large economic losses in swine production worldwide. This study had as objective to determinate the frequency of antibodies against the ApxIV toxin of Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae, cause of porcine pleuropneumonia in commercial swine farms from the departments of Arequipa, Lima, Ica and La Libertad. Samples were taken from 300 animals from grower and finisher stages. The indirect ELISA test was employed for the detection of antibodies against the ApxIV toxin of Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae. 23.7 % (71/300) of the animals contained antibodies against the ApxIV toxin of Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae, the highest frequency was found in Ica, with 60%. The presence of antibodies against the ApxIV toxin demonstrates the presence of infection with this bacterium. Thus, the presence of Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae infection in swine commercial farms in Peru are confirmed.
