-- This investigation titled “Meaning that grants the nursing professional personal to the care of the transcultural perspective at a national hospital of metropolitan Lima”, is a qualitative boarding, type of case study, and it has for general aim understand the meaning that the nurses grant to the care from the transcultural perspective. The participants of the study were 10 nurses that work in two pavilions of medicine of the hospital headquarters of study, the sample was defined on having come at the level of saturation. The compilation of information was across the guide of semi-structured interview, guide of observation participant and check list. The obtained results were codified and met in subcategories and categories, which were analyzed and interpreted. In the main final considerations of this investigation allowed to know the meanings that the nurses grant to the care from the perspective transcultural involving to consider, to respect and to understand the culture of the users. The participants of the study admitted that inside the limitations one finds the rejection of some nurses towards the culture of the users; besides that the nurses were showing behaviors that were characterizing an attention not to the person, but to the motive of consultation, giving priority to the biomedical attention of the disease and to the fulfillment of the labor activities. Some nurses participants of the study consider to be suitable the previous cultural contact of the nurses to achieve a sensibility and cultural conscience, in addition to promote the teaching of native languages as the Quechuan, to allow a communication adapted with the users. -- KEY WORDS: Nursing, culture, transcultural care, hospital
