Lead times are crucial in assessing the operational efficiency of any organization. In this context, it is considered that stock-outs can negatively affect delivery service. However, controlling and reducing the rate of stock-outs can improve operational efficiency. This study was conducted in an air compressor importing company in the city of Lima. After a detailed analysis of the problem, it was found that the company had a high percentage of orders not delivered on time. A solution was proposed that focused on improving the quality of the delivery service for both the internal customer and the end customer. To address this problem, several inventory management tools and methodologies were implemented, such as demand forecasting, EOQ, 5S, ABC classification and cyclic counting, whose effectiveness was validated through a pilot plan and simulation. The application of these tools, evaluated using Arena software, resulted in a reduction in the percentage of orders not delivered on time from 12.68% to 6.78%. This leads to the conclusion that proper inventory management can generate significant improvements in the control of delivery times.
