The economic stability of the country and the increase in the population that has some type of disability have allowed the development of organizations dedicated to the manufacturing and marketing of products for the physical rehabilitation of people. Therefore, the need to improve efficiency in manufacturing standard wheelchairs in order to compete in the region is of significant urgency. The current efficiency of the organization is 68.23%, generating penalty costs for late deliveries, overtime, among others. According to academic research, for the organization to compete regionally it is necessary to have an efficiency of 85.92%. The investigation of the root causes of the problem leads to the application of engineering tools such as Systematic Layout Planning, 5S, work standardization and line balancing. All aligned with the reduction of unproductive times in the assembly area. The successful results of the pilot plan were confirmed through simulations in the ProModel system. In this way, it is concluded that the efficiency of the manufacture of standard wheelchairs can be increased by 30% by reducing unproductive transfer times, search times for tools and supplies, unproductive times due to randomness in assembly and the overload of the operators.
