The company BK & Tecnología, whose main field is focused on the development of projects in industrial automation, embarked in 2018 on the development of an educational module for conducting industrial palletizing practices through the manipulation of a 4-degree-of-freedom robot arm and 2 mini conveyor belts. This was due to the low number of laboratories equipped with technologies that enable their students to be prepared for future automation projects. While there are already some solutions to this problem, the costs of acquisition, training and maintenance are very high, causing many institutions not to invest in these technologies. The objective of this project is to provide a solution with an acquisition, operation and maintenance cost that is affordable for various educational centers and individuals who choose to drive their own practices. The proposed module consists of 4 main sections: a feeding system with overload and electrical noise protection, a 4-degree-of-freedom robot arm with a weight overload damping system, controlled by a joystick with position-saving capability, two mini conveyor belts with inductive proximity sensors and two control systems for managing the robot arm and the mini conveyor belts, respectively. The results obtained were satisfactory, leading to the purchase of 5 prototypes by educational entities from 2022 to the present.
