The present study undertakes the surface evaluation of the pavement along Avenida María Reiche, situated in Villa María del Triunfo, Lima. This urban roadway spans a length of 1.6 km and is divided into two carriageways, each comprising two lanes. To assess the Pavement Condition Index (PCI), each lane was subdivided into sample units (SU) measuring approximately 3.6 m x 50 m. A total of 130 SU of flexible pavement and 8 slabs of rigid pavement were evaluated. The overarching aim was to devise a plan for identifying and remedying critical areas utilizing the PCI methodology. Findings indicated that lane 1 of the right-hand carriageway exhibited a PCI range between 18 and 80, with 14 SU classified as poor or very poor. Lane 3 displayed a comparatively better overall condition, although several SU necessitated rehabilitation. On the left-hand carriageway, lanes 2 and 4 also manifested significant deterioration, warranting urgent intervention in certain SU. The detailed road maintenance plan, in accordance with the Ministry of Transport and Communications' Road Conservation Manual, was validated using PAVER software, revealing substantial enhancements in PCI following interventions. Lanes 1, 3, 2, and 4 attained PCIs of 86, 88, 87, and 89, respectively, post-intervention, underscoring the plan's effectiveness in enhancing pavement condition and emphasizing the importance of continuous, well-structured maintenance to extend pavement lifespan.
