The present work focuses on the implementation of an improvement model based on Lean Manufacturing tools in a company dedicated to the production of HDPE pipes with the aim of increasing efficiency. It was found that the efficiency in the plastics sector is 82.39%, while the company currently has an efficiency of 68.57%. This was attributed to high setup times, unnecessary activities that did not add value to the final product, and a high rate of corrective maintenance. This resulted in an impact of 772 tons lost due to orders withdrawn by customers, equivalent to a total of 154,483.23 dollars not received in gross profits. To address these issues, Lean Manufacturing tools were selected, specifically SMED, TPM, and Standardization, due to their positive impact on other companies with similar problems according to the success cases reviewed in the literature. The implementation of these tools increased efficiency to 80.2%, raising the average monthly production from 273 to 323 tons. The project required an initial investment of 15,175.89 dollars, generating an NPV of 26,518.13 dollars, an IRR of 81%, and a Benefit-Cost Ratio of 2.75, indicating a significant return for each dollar invested. Finally, it is demonstrated that the project is viable from the economic, labor, environmental, and legal perspectives. In this way, the academic sector is contributed with a model that can be implemented in similar industries due to the results and benefits obtained.
